As wellness spots continue to trend, from new social saunas in Manhattan to escapes outside of city limits, there are always new and exciting places to try for professionals in need of a little reprieve. I did this myself this summer and stayed at the Miraval Berkshires Resort and Spa, which pulled me out of the hustle and bustle before I even walked through the main doors.
<span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;">On the nearly three hour drive from the city, landscapes transformed from the concrete jungle to all that is green and serene. Such is the case leading up to the property before entering the quaint town where Miraval Berkshires is located. When I stepped out of the car to a &ldquo;digital-free&rdquo; sign, I reactively clutched my phone tightly... it turns out I could use the restorative time and actually try a little digital detox.
The hotel is designed for leisure. Sprawling over 380 acres, the main building is fully connected by a series of hallways allowing guests to walk from their rooms to the restaurant and activities, without needing to go outside. (This is especially great for cold and rainy weather.) There are no phones signs all around, and it&rsquo;s generally respected, whether intrinsically or by side eyes and peer if you&rsquo;ve got yours out. (To be clear, this isn&rsquo;t White Lotus, and nobody takes your phone from you&hellip; you&rsquo;re just expected to detach from it and avoid use in certain areas.) My favorite thing about <span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;">Miraval Berkshires wasn&rsquo;t just the spa and dining options (though those were all very nice), but it was all the activities available for resort guests. From vinyasa yoga to educational sessions on modern love and moon ceremonies, the activities available at Miraval Berkshires are expansive and feel nostalgic. Many are also creative, which is just what I need when trying to decompress and feel grounded again. Perhaps my favorite activity of them all was raku pottery, where participants get to try a Japanese technique where you intensely fire your hand-painted ceramic and reveal uniquely finished glaze
The pool and spa have the usual trimmings, sans cold plunge. There&rsquo;s a steam room, sauna, and hot tub in a woman-only area too. The list of treatments at the spa ranges from everything to a typical full body massage with hot stones to something more in-theme with Miraval's wellness vibe like a massage that uses sound bowls to channel healing frequencies.

Food in the restaurant includes typical American fare, with options for those with dietary restrictions, be it allergy-related or vegetarian. Locally sourced ingredients serve as evidence of the hotel&rsquo;s holistic focus. Even with all the healthy options, there are still opportunities for a less healthy snack. While all meals are buffet-style&mdash;this means nobody is going to want anything they can&rsquo;t have&mdash;service at dinner time makes things feel more elevated.
For those in need of a restorative weekend, especially one away from a city, Miraval Berkshires offers just that. The all-inclusive resort places a clear emphasis on fostering a sense of internal calm through its accommodations, food options, and a range of group and more individualized activities.
